Study of shoot-through control pulse generation for a Z-source converter with wind turbine energy system

Abstract In this paper, there is a discussion about different modulation schemes for dc-to-ac ZSC, also named Z-source inverter (ZSI), triggering the main switches of three-phase legs or poles an inverter. A prototype 8.5-kilowatt wind turbine with 5.8-kilowatt Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) system employed voltage-controlled ZSI implemented in paper. For voltage control load side generation (WTGS), Proportional Integral (PI) controller used. Three types PWM namely simple boost pulse width (SB-PWM), third harmonic injection (THIBC-PWM) and space vector (SV-PWM) techniques are compared on basis total distortion output ac-waveform Converter (ZSC) to find out that, which technique best fit integrated WTGS.
